Police in Qingdao, Shandong province, have detained a 35-year-old man for using AI to create and spread false information about Qingdao University's emblem, authorities said on Sunday.
近日，接到青岛大学工作人员报警，反映有网民在网络平台发布传播涉及该校校徽的不实信息。
经核实，警方迅速查获违法行为人龙某（男，35岁）。调查发现，龙某为博取流量，利用AI技术编造谣言并在网络平台发布，扰乱公共秩序。目前，龙某已被依法行政拘留并处罚款。
The university filed a complaint after a video circulated online claiming that the educational institution had unveiled a new logo. An investigation quickly identified the suspect, surnamed Long, who had fabricated the rumor to attract online attention. He was placed under administrative detention and fined, police said.
8月10日，有网民发布视频称，“青岛大学新校徽被指像旭日旗，校方紧急撤下”，引发关注。
8月11日，“青岛网络辟谣”微信公众号发布辟谣信息称，经查，该信息纯属造谣，网传校徽图样并非青岛大学校徽。
青岛大学现校徽为2013年5月启用，以蓝色为主基调，由中英文校名和建校年份等三个基本元素组成，交替出现的四部分色块寓意学校主体由四所学校合并而成。
Qingdao University responded by clarifying that its current emblem, adopted in May 2013, is predominantly blue and features the university's Chinese and English names along with its founding year. The four colored blocks represent the merger of four predecessor institutions.
真正的青岛大学校徽
青岛大学表示，该校自1909年建校起从未使用过网传视频中的校徽，近期也没有组织过新校徽设计、征集、发布等工作，网传所谓新校徽图片纯属造谣。
The university emphasized that it has never used the emblem shown in the video, nor has it recently organized any design, solicitation or release of a new logo. The so-called new emblem was entirely fabricated, the university said, urging the public not to spread false information.
