A Chinese social media influencer has had multiple accounts shut down after posting celebratory comments under videos mourning the death of a 10-year-old boy who had been battling cancer.
1月27日，10岁的“抗癌小王子”豪豪不幸去世，全网为其悲痛不已（此前报道：）。
一个叫做“吴新宇”的账号，在评论区公开发表“祝贺你”“真开心”等言论：
The boy, Haohao, died on Jan 27, prompting widespread grief across Chinese social media platforms. During the mourning period, an account operating under the name Wu Xinyu posted comments such as "congratulations" and "so happy" beneath related videos, quickly triggering public outrage.
豪豪父亲发文表示“气到发抖”。
The boy's father later said the remarks left him "shaking with anger".
据媒体报道，面对网友和舆论的谴责，1月30日，“吴新宇”发布道歉视频称：“豪豪对不起，我只是想蹭热度做节目效果，并没有说你，而且不止我一个人说你，有很多人说你。我真的知道错了，我可以给你跪下道歉。”
但2月1日，“吴新宇”又发布视频辩解称，他当时说的是另一个因白血病去世的豪豪，“世界上不止一个人叫豪豪，不止一个人得了白血病。”
As backlash intensified, the influencer released an apology video on Friday, claiming the comments were intended to create "show effects" and attract online attention, and insisting he had not targeted the child.
However, in a follow-up video posted on Sunday, he contradicted that statement by arguing that the remarks referred to another child with the same name who had also died of leukemia.
“吴新宇”在快手平台有88.7万粉丝，抖音粉丝也超过10万，个人简介是“我要当网红”，IP地址显示来自河北。
“吴新宇”被封杀后，不少网友表示“网络不是法外之地”：
The account had amassed a large following across multiple platforms, openly using the slogan "I want to be an internet celebrity," and was linked to an IP address in Hebei province. Following the bans, many netizens commented that "the internet is not above the law."
北京青少年法律援助与研究中心网络保护部负责人陈强告诉中青报·中青网记者：
根据我国《民法典》的规定，死者的名誉受到侵害的，其父母有权依法请求行为人承担民事责任。
在豪豪不幸离世后，自媒体账号“吴新宇”在相关视频评论区发布侮辱性言论，此举涉嫌侵犯豪豪的名誉，豪豪的父母等近亲属也承受了巨大的精神痛苦。因此，豪豪的父母有权向人民法院提起民事诉讼，要求对方赔礼道歉，并承担精神损害赔偿责任。
此外，我国《网络信息内容生态治理规定》明确规定，网络信息内容生产者不得制作、发布侮辱或者诽谤他人，侵害他人名誉、隐私和其他合法权益的违法信息。有关部门也多次通过专项行动从严整治自媒体不择手段蹭炒社会热点，散布偏激言论等无底线博流量行为。
Chen Qiang from Beijing Children's Legal Aid and Research Center told China Youth Daily that under Chinese law, close relatives may seek civil liability when a deceased person's reputation is infringed, including demands for a public apology and compensation for emotional distress.
He added that online content governance regulations prohibit the production and dissemination of insulting or defamatory material, noting that authorities have repeatedly cracked down on traffic-driven behavior that exploits social tragedies for attention.

According to Chen, the platform's decision to impose bans reflects the enforcement of existing laws and policies and serves as a warning to content creators to respect legal boundaries, ethical norms and broader online public order.
