In 2024, Huachao Town of Minhang District created four exemplary housing estates for garbage classification, carried out specialized updates at 16 garbage disposal points, and made minor improvements at 82 garbage disposal points.
Among them Hongqiao Lexianju has equipped garbage shed with intelligent systems and digital devices to create an integrated intelligent operation and management system.
As a result, the overall environment of the housing estate has been significantly improved.
Resident said: "Previously, we would throw away the waste in the trash bins. Now, there are smart disposal devices where you can just drop the waste in without touching anything. It's quite convenient and hygienic, and there's no unpleasant smell either. "
"The intelligent disposal(equipment) works by sensing, and the door will automatically open. Then, residents can directly throw away their garbage. At the same time, many new devices have been equipped, such as deodorization equipment and automatic cleaning equipment. It is convenient for the back-end personnel to manage the entire garbage shed through these intelligent renovations." Shen Jian, the property supervisor said.

虹桥乐贤居作为华漕镇垃圾分类精品示范小区之一，借助智慧系统和数字化赋能，打造了智慧化运作管理体系，小区整体环境得到明显改善。
居民王先生告诉记者，先前是直接投放到垃圾桶里面，现在有智能（投放设备），手不用接触，方便卫生，也没有什么异味。
“智能化投放（设备）通过感应自动开门，居民可以直接投放，（同时）配备了很多新的设备，比如说除臭设备，自动清洁设备，通过一些智能化的改造项目，方便后台人员对整个垃圾厢房的管理。”物业主管沈剑说。
