China Grand Canal

The Grand Canal of China, with a total length of about 3200 kilometers and more than 2,500 years since its excavation, is the longest man-made waterway in the world. It travels six provinces and cities, and connects 5 river systems, and it still plays an important role to date. In 2014, the Grand Canal of China was successfully inscribed on the World Heritage List.

The Grand Canal and Beijing's central axis meet at Wanning Bridge, one of the oldest bridges on the central axis. Here, the solemnity of the central axis meets the flow of the canal in perfect harmony, symbolizing Beijing's position as the political and cultural center of China.
