干邑品牌 Hardy 重新设计了 Legend 1863 干邑的包装

In a bid to lessen the environmental impact of its packaging, French Cognac house Hardy has revisited the design of its Legend 1863 Cognac, first launched in 2017. The new packaging features materials including 100% recycled paper and bio-sourced PP. The brand also gave a revamp to its Fier & Hardy range.

Named for the year when the house of Hardy was founded, Legend 1863 is one of the brand's emblematic cognacs having undergone a redesign in line with the maison's sustainable development strategy. The redesign is a nod to French culture with its tricolor illustrations.

The bespoke made-in France bottle (Saverglass) has kept its original distinctive features: a tapered silhouette flanked by deeply faceted shoulders, with the brand's rooster emblem engraved on the facing. Looking to source locally, the newly designed label is printed by Cognac-based supplier Nacara. Both front and back labels are printed on 100% recycled FSC stock and applied to the glass with solvent-free glue. The paper is left uncolored save for the lettering and logo, printed using what are described as sustainable inks. The touches of gold hot stamping were removed.

Horizon Mineral, a recycled plastic stopper (Bouchage Delage) with bio-sourced PP head tops the bottle. The pearl-colored stopper is injected with chalk fillers and is covered with an aluminum capsule (Relcap) in an off-white hue.

For the secondary packaging, the brand opted for a change of color–evolving from dark purple to off-white–and a new design. Made from unlaminated, FSC recycled paper, the box (TPG) is decorated with the brand name in a number of different fonts in the colors of the French flag. DS Smith supplied the cardboard shipping cartons.

The Hardy Legend 1863 is an eaux-de-vie blending Petit Champagne, Fins Bois and Borderies up to 12 years old and aged in Limousin oak barrels. The new design cognac launched in 2024, and retails for €50.

The brand has also redesigned its Fier & Hardy range of Cognacs, one of which competed in last year’s edition of the Formes de Luxe Awards. The 0,7l bottles for the range (Saverglass) were redesigned to weigh 700g, versus the 850g previously, enabling to save around 18 tons of glass, according to the glassmaker. Labels made from 100% recycled paper and a wood stopper were also included as a part of the redesign. The folding box is made using FSC Mix cardboard (DS Smith), decorated with offset printing, matte and glossy varnish, graining and embossing.
