At least 4,372 deaths have been confirmed after a powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake rocked Turkiye and Syria early Monday.

Turkiye's toll rose to 2,921 as of Tuesday morning, according to Yunus Sezer, Turkiye's head of disaster services.

此次地震震级7.8级，震源深度20千米，震中位于北纬38.00度，东经37.15度。多地建筑被夷为平地，震感遍及亚欧非多洲。

The magnitude 7.8 quake was one of the strongest to strike the area in more than a century. Amid severe aftershocks, Turkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) called for international help.

China is willing to provide emergency humanitarian assistance in accordance with the needs of earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria, said Xu Wei, spokesman for the China International Development Cooperation Agency. China expresses its sympathies and concerns over the casualties and property losses in Turkiye and Syria caused by the earthquake, Xu said. China is in communication with relevant government departments in the two countries.

She said China sincerely wishes people of the two countries an early victory over the disaster at an early date to reconstruct their homelands.
