本试验旨在探讨保育猪空间分配与育肥猪空间分配之间可能的相互作用。在实验1中,拥挤是通过改变每个猪栏的生猪数量来实现的。在保育阶段,减少空间分配(0.16 m2/猪vs 0.25 m2/猪;每个处理8-12栏),通过增加每个猪栏生猪数量(18 vs 12)会降低日采食量(0.609 vs 0.683 kg/d;P<0.001)和日增重(0.364 vs 0.408 kg/d;P<0.001)。在35 d的保育期结束时,在保育处理组中混合饲养并重新分配到生长育肥猪栏(每个处理6猪栏),提供0.56 m2/猪(14头/栏)或0.78 m2/猪(10头/栏)。生长-育肥期拥挤降低了日采食量(P<0.003)和日增重(P<0.001)。
在试验2中,保育期(每个处理24栏)分配0.16 m2/猪的空间(0.23 m2/猪)降低了日采食量(0.612 vs 0.654 kg/d;P<0.005)和日增重(0.403 vs 0.430 kg/d;P<0.001)。当进入生长-育肥阶段时,猪仍然处于相同的(社会)群体中。与试验1不同,生长-育肥期拥挤对日采食量或日增重没有影响(0.60 m2/猪vs 0.74 m2/猪)。
不同实验结果的差异表明,在生长-育肥阶段,猪对拥挤的反应可能部分取决于猪是否在离开保育舍后被混合和分类。
