近日，美国传染病学专家福奇（Anthony Fauci）在国会听证会上对美国肯塔基州共和党参议员兰德·保罗（Rand Paul）发飙了。

在7月20日的参议院听证会上，兰德·保罗再次炒作“美国国立卫生研究院（NIH）资助武汉进行‘功能获得研究’（gain-of-function research）研究”言论，并暗指福奇此前关于“否认资助研究的声明”是在说谎。
所谓的“功能获得研究”，是指对病毒赋予属性，增强其致病性或传播性，以观察其对真实世界影响的研究项目。兰德·保罗试图借此炒作阴谋论，暗示新冠病毒“可能来自中国实验室”。
作为反驳，福奇首先澄清相关研究并非“功能获得”，随后他怒斥保罗：
“I totally resent the lie that you are now propagating.” “我对你宣扬的谎言极其反感。” “I totally resent that, and if anyone is lying here, senator, it is you.” “我真的很厌恶你说的这些，如果真有什么人在这里撒谎，那就是你，参议员先生。”
政治夹缝中的福奇
近来，美西方又开始热炒新冠病毒“实验室泄漏论”。福奇7月17日曾重申，他认为新冠病毒来自自然界的理论仍是最有可能的情况。

但福奇对于新冠病毒来源的论调并不坚定。

今年五月，福奇曾在采访中说，他不太信服（"not convinced"）新冠病毒来自自然界的说法，还说美国“应该继续调查中国发生了什么”。
Fauci said in May that he was "not convinced" COVID came about naturally, and said the US “should continue to investigate what went on in China until we continue to find out to the best of our ability what happened."
福奇的摇摆不定出于什么原因，我们不得而知。但据外媒报道，今年五月，福奇超3200页电子邮件被曝光，其中一些邮件显示，美国研究机构负责人当时认为，所谓新冠病毒起源于“武汉实验室”的说法，是一个阴谋。
这之后，福奇就面临着“越来越多的强硬右翼和带有阴谋色彩的批评（growing rightwing criticism and conspiracy theories）”。
对此，福奇曾在一次节目中表示，有关“实验室泄漏论”的辩论已被“政治化”。
而BBC也在一篇文章中指出，“实验室泄漏论”与自然来源理论的辩论已经超出了正常科学范畴。

什么是“科学政治化”
“科学政治化”（the politicization of science）是指通过操纵科学来达到政治目的的做法。
它具体表现为政府、企业或发声团体通过法律或者经济上的施压，影响科学研究的结果或者其被传播、报道、解释的方式。
The politicization of science is the manipulation of science for political gain. It occurs when government, business, or advocacy groups use legal or economic pressure to influence the findings of scientific research or the way it is disseminated, reported or interpreted.

在这场新冠疫情中，美国让我们看到了科学被政治操控有多可怕。
比如，特朗普政府曾用政客取代美国卫生与公共服务部的专业人员，其中一些政客干预了美国疾控中心每周科学报告，并试图让福奇闭嘴。
美国疫情全面暴发后，政府不是以科学为指导全力抗疫，而是一门心思造谣甩锅诋毁中国，放任病毒肆虐，致使60多万美国人丧生。政治凌驾于科学之上，这可以说是最糟糕的案例。
科学家被骂到想退出溯源研究
世卫组织三月末发表的新冠病毒溯源报告认为，病毒由实验室泄露极不可能（"extremely unlikely"），新冠病毒还是最有可能来自于自然界。
很多科学家也认同世卫组织报告中的观点。然而就在大多数现有证据都在支持自然来源说法的情况下，“实验室泄漏论”依然甚嚣尘上。
权威科学杂志《自然》评论道，很多科学家觉得，政客炒作“实验室泄漏论”令人不安（unsettling）。他们认为，这种做法会阻挠病毒溯源的科学研究。

而更让人不可接受的是，一些研究病毒溯源的科学家遭到骚扰、辱骂，甚至被指控参与阴谋。

One who has worked on Sars-Cov-2's evolutionary origins since the pandemic's early days said he considered leaving his field of research because the abuse had become so bad.

"I've had email hacks, emails that attempt to entrap me, and claims that I've faked data and am part of some sort of a systemic cover-up. And others have had it far, far worse. Other researchers think Tedros has been caught up in what Gerald Keusch, associate director of the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory Institute at Boston University, calls “the barrage of media and political commentary” — particularly sharp in the United States, WHO’s largest funder — about a potential lab leak. “I think he’s under enormous pressure…” says Keusch. “It’s sad.”
美学者：“拜登已将溯源政治化”
现在，美国正抱着政治目的对中国搞“有罪推定”。拜登政府甚至下令美情报部门“90天内拿出病毒起源报告”。

美国学术界人士已经公开表示了对拜登政府调查合理性的担忧。
美国乔治城大学全球卫生政策与政治中心主任马修·卡瓦纳博士（Matthew M. Kavanagh）认为，拜登选择让情报机构，而不是医学专家来调查，这已经将溯源问题政治化了。
Dr. Matthew M. Kavanagh, director of the Global Health Policy & Politics Initiative at Georgetown University told Rolling Stone earlier this month that Biden’s use of the intelligence community, and not health officials, may have already politicized the matter.

国家卫健委：中国不接受
“不尊重常识”的溯源第二阶段计划
上周，世卫组织提出针对中国第二阶段的溯源调查，调查对象包括武汉海鲜市场及武汉病毒研究所等地。

对此，国家卫生健康委副主任曾益新回应表示，在这个计划里将“中国违反实验室规程造成病毒泄漏”这个假设作为研究重点之一。“这既不尊重常识，也违背科学。我们是不可能接受这样一个溯源计划的。”
他表示，新冠病毒溯源是一个科学问题，中国政府一贯支持科学地开展病毒溯源，但是反对将溯源工作政治化，第二阶段病毒溯源应该在第一阶段病毒溯源的基础上来延伸。希望世卫组织能够真正将新冠病毒溯源作为一个科学问题，摆脱政治干扰，积极稳妥推动在全球多国多地范围内持续开展溯源，要加强各国溯源科研的合作交流，尽快找到最有可能的病毒源头，尽最大努力预防类似的疫情再次发生。
