The alliance between the US and the UK should be known as the "indestructible relationship", Boris Johnson has told the BBC after meeting US President Joe Biden for the first time.
He said he had "terrific" talks with Mr Biden, who has travelled to Cornwall for the G7 summit of world leaders.
The summit begins later, with vaccines and climate change on the agenda.
Mr Johnson insisted the US president had not rebuked him over post-Brexit tensions in Northern Ireland.

The warehouse raid in 2018 ferried tens of thousands of documents out of the country to Israel.
He also hinted at Israeli involvement in the destruction of Iran's nuclear facility at Natanz, and the assassination of a nuclear scientist.

British actor and rapper Riz Ahmed has launched a fund to help combat "toxic portrayals" of Muslims in films.
The move comes after a study showed Muslims rarely appear on screen, or are shown in a negative light if they do.
Earlier this year, the Sound of Metal star became the first Muslim to be nominated for best actor at the Oscars.
Ahmed, who is also known for Rogue One and The Night Of, said: "The problem with Muslim misrepresentation is one that can't be ignored any more."

China's Zhurong rover has sent back a batch of new images from Mars - including a "selfie".
The robot, which landed in May, positioned a wireless camera on the ground and then rolled back a short distance to take the snap.
To Zhurong's right is the rocket-powered platform that brought the six-wheeled vehicle to a soft touchdown.
Both display prominent Chinese flags.

Democrats have demanded a probe into reports that officials acting under former President Donald Trump seized lawmakers' Apple account information.
According to The New York Times, prosecutors subpoenaed the tech giant for account data for at least two House Intelligence Committee members.
Representative Adam Schiff - now the committee's chairman - was reportedly one of those targeted.
Top Democrat Nancy Pelosi called the report "harrowing".
