MAD connects this group of pavilions to a building containing a bookstore and civic facilities. The project is located in the century park by the side of the bay, covering an area of 4397 square meters, construction area of 1380 square meters. On the south side of the pavilion is a library and reading space with a capacity of 10,000 books, as well as a multi-purpose audio-visual area: free and open for public use. At the same time, the northern part of the building houses a cafe, public toilets, accessible toilets, showers, a nursery, a common rest area and a roof garden.

Starting a new book is often a moment the reader cherishes: venturing into the surreal or unknown and gently expunging from everyday reality. The experience of visiting Yunjing is similar. The building enables people to get close to buildings removed from our familiar urban reality and begin a new journey beyond time and space. The layered complexity of the cave shape deconstructs the spatial layers, providing the reader with a weightless domain for their imagination to inhabit.

The circular openings of the building are reminiscent of holes formed by wildlife or the sea, blurring the line between architecture and nature. The openings of different sizes allow natural light to enter the interior and create a natural ventilation effect that cools Haikou's year-round warm climate. Through these holes, one observes the sky and sea, as if looking at a familiar world through the passage of time and space. This layering of the atmosphere, as well as the collision between man and space, creates a sense of a ritual of life.

A cascading reading area facing the sea connects the first and second floors, not only for reading, but also for cultural exchange activities. The children's reading area is isolated from the main reading space, with skylights, holes and niches that stimulate children's desire to explore.

The form of the structure creates several semi-outdoor Spaces and platforms that also serve as a perfect space for reading and gazing at the sea. In response to the local hot climate, the grey Spaces in the exterior corridors of the building are cantilevered to achieve comfortable temperatures and ultimately a sustainable energy efficient structure.

MAD advocates an "antimatter" approach through the pavilion, avoiding intentional expression of structure and structure, thereby eliminating the inherent everyday perception of materials and allowing the sense of space itself to become the subject. Here, concrete is a liquid material characterized by its fluid, flexible and variable structural form.

Both the interior and exterior of the building are cast in fair-faced concrete, resulting in a single cohesive, fluid form. The roof and floor feature double waffle panels that support the scale of the building and the large cantilever. Design and development using digital models to conduct and test. It was possible to hide all mechanical, electrical and piping elements within concrete cavities in order to minimize their appearance and create visual consistency. The smooth, organic aura of the pavilion can only be achieved by the critical integration of architecture, structure, electromechanical design, etc.

Ma Yansong said, "Spirit is the core value of architecture. It contributes to the cultural atmosphere of a city. We want this building to be an urban space that people want to be a part of their daily lives. Architecture, art, culture and nature meet here, opening the visitor's imagination to explore and appreciate the meaning that different beauties bring to their lives.
