Two Russian men suspected of carrying out the 2018 Salisbury poisonings are being linked to an explosion at an arms depot in the Czech Republic.
Evidence links the 2014 explosion, and an attempted poisoning in Bulgaria, to a unit of Russian military intelligence - the GRU - the BBC has learnt.
European intelligence agencies believe the GRU's Unit 29155 is tasked with sabotage, subversion and assassination.
The Russian government said the claims were unfounded and absurd.

Helen McCrory's husband has paid tribute to her "fearlessness, wit, curiosity, talent and beauty" after the actress died of cancer aged 52.
Damian Lewis, who met McCrory on stage at London's Almeida Theatre in 2003, wrote in the Sunday Times that she "has been utterly heroic in her illness".
"She's shone more brightly in the last months than you would imagine even the brightest star could shine," he said.
McCrory died on Friday and is survived by Lewis and their two children.

This small helicopter is set to be the first to fly on another planet.
Ingenuity is a 1.8kg (4lb) helicopter that travelled to Mars inside Nasa's Perseverance rover, which landed in February 2021.
Nasa say it's now aiming to test it on Monday 19 April but admits it may not be successful, in which case they'll try again later in the week.
Flying on the Red Planet isn't straightforward - as BBC science reporter Laura Foster and Nasa systems engineer Farah Alibay explain.

Safety regulators in the US have urged owners of a Peloton treadmill to stop using the product "immediately" if they have children or pets in the home.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says it is aware of 39 incidents including one death, involving the Peloton Tread+.
Peloton had already confirmed the death last month and said children should stay away from the machines.
On Saturday, Peloton called the CPSC's warning "inaccurate and misleading".

A wildfire is raging out of control on the slopes of Table Mountain above the city of Cape Town, South African authorities say.
The blaze has destroyed part of a cafe at the Rhodes Memorial overlooking the city's port. Hundreds of students have been evacuated from a nearby University of Cape Town campus.
The fire is moving towards the campus, the Western Cape Government said.
Three helicopters are water-bombing the flames.
