参考原文

Text 1

M: I can’t go to work because I have a sore throat.

W: Let me have a look. Open your mouth. Hmm, your throat is pretty red. Take this kind of medicine, and you’ll be alright.

Text 2

M: We are going to see the ships and the space-station.

W: Good! It is always exciting.

M: Can we take photos of these ships?

W: Yes. And there’ll be a chance to ask questions.

Text 3

W: Pete, where are the cookies? Are they all eaten up?

M: Yes. I couldn’t help eating them all!

Text 4

W: How’s your mother now? I heard she had an operation last week.

M: She is much better. Thank you. But she still needs to stay there for two more weeks.

Text 5

W: Simon, could you return the tools I lent you for building the bookshelf last month?

M: Oh, well, I hate to tell you this, but I can’t seem to find them.

Text 6

M: Sorry, I’m late. I didn’t oversleep. (6)My clock didn’t go off this morning. I had to take the taxi to the office.

W: Again?

M: That’s right, even though I did set the alarm last night.

W: Your clock never works. Perhaps you should buy a new one.

M: Well, if it breaks down again tomorrow, I’ll definitely buy a new one.

W: Maybe by then it’ll be too late.

M: What do you mean “too late”?

W: Well, you guess. (7)Don’t make me angry.

Text 7

M: Can you do me a favor, Maria?

W: Yes.

M: (8)Would you please take care of my home when I’m out? I don’t want my house to get messed up. Since I don’t have pets or anything, it will be easy to look after.

W: I got it. Where are you going?

M: I’m going back to America. (9)My daughter has a new-born baby named Lucy and she wants me to spend some time with her mother and her. It has been 3 months since I moved to London for work.

W: Well. You’re such a good dad!

Text 8(10题为推理判断题)

M: You know, Susan, I’ve never had Indian food before. I am really not sure what I should order.

W: You’ve never eaten Indian food before?

M: Yeah. That is why when you asked me to come I was so excited. (11)I’ve been wanting to try it for quite some time. So, what do you suggest?

W: My favorite is spicy mutton curry(辣羊肉咖喱). Do you like mutton?

M: I love it.

W: Well, then I’ll order it for you and (12)I’ll get the spicy fish.

M: Fine. What about rice?

W: That’s right! I’ll order us both a plate of rice. We need some bread, too.

Text 9

M: Well, did you find your purse?

W: No, I couldn’t find it.

M: Did you lose it in your office when you finished your work at 5:00 p.m.?

W: That couldn’t be. (15)I must lose it in my home. I left my home at 8:30 this morning, and I took the taxi to the office. (13)It was 9:00 when I got to the office. And then I couldn’t find my purse.

M: So, do you remember what’s in it?

W: Yes,(14) my spare key and some change. It’s my luck that I didn’t put my boyfriend’s photo in the purse. He’ll be mad if he finds out I lost it.

M: Do you think somebody stole it from you?

W: My boss even tried to call the police, but I don’t think so. I’ll keep on looking for it.

M: (16)I think you should just forget about it. Sometimes when we try to find something, we just can’t. While sometimes, when we just ignore it, it will show up.

W: Well, you’re right.

Text 10

W: If your kids could, they might sit around all day doing nothing but watch TV. This is not good for their health or their intellectual development. (17)Parents of lazy kids should choose some rules that motivate the kids to get things done.

It’s easy for kids to put off doing homework when there are so many other more interesting things to do. (18)Set a house rule that your child has to do his homework first. If he has a lot of work, it is fine for him to take a short break, but his focus should still be on getting his work done.

Your lazy child might leave his things around the house. It may not seem like a lot to him—his jacket sitting on the chair, a book on the coffee table and breakfast dishes still on the table—but they really add up to an untidy home.

(19)Children should watch no more than one to two hours of educational, nonviolent programmes per day. (20)A house rule that limits the amount of TV and video games will force the child to participate in other activities.
