每到秋天，很多树叶就会逐渐变黄，接着枯萎、然后从枝头飘落。而人一旦到了晚年，也如同秋天里的植物，身体机能也会逐渐变弱。
因此 autumn years 不是秋日时光，而是人们的晚年时光，这个词语特指退休后的晚年生活。

这里的 dead 表示的不是死亡，而是中间，可以替换为 middle. 因为middle night 是深夜，所以 in the dead of night 也是在深夜。
