香港电台一档名为《The Pulse》的英语节目连线世界卫生组织助理总干事布鲁斯·艾尔沃德（Bruce Aylward），询问其全球疫情相关问题。
记者在节目最后两分钟夹带私货：先是表扬了台湾疫情防控，之后记者强行将问题转向台湾议题。
她直接向艾尔沃德问道，“世卫组织是否会重新考虑台湾的成员资格”。艾尔沃德沉默近十秒之久，表示太卡了，他没听到记者的问题。
“对不起，我没听清你问的问题。”

记者忍不住确认对方是否在线：Hello?
而当记者询问是否需要重复问题时，艾尔沃德回绝，表示“不，没关系，我们直接开始下一个问题”。

但记者依旧“穷追不舍”：“我对台湾的话题很好奇……”。这一次，艾尔沃德直接挂断了电话。
等到视频电话再次拨通，记者仍未放弃，艾尔沃德回应道，“刚刚我们已经讨论过中国了。”
Well, we've already talked about China. And you know, when you look across all the different areas of China, they've actually all done quite a good job. 我们刚刚已经讨论过中国了， 你看看中国各个不同地区，他们实际上都做得很棒。
之后，艾尔沃德对连线采访表示了感谢，挂掉了视频。
在前面的采访中，艾尔德博士回应了世卫组织对宣布新冠肺炎成为“大流行病”的考量，并再次肯定了中国为疫情采取的有力行动。
他表示，如果各国此前能像中国一样采取诸如检测、隔离等有效措施，可以避免发展成大流行病。
...we actually, as societies, have the ability to prevent this becoming a pandemic，if we do the kind of measures China has put in place, testing all the people that are suspected cases, isolating them, etc.
但因为许多国家行动不力，导致一场潜在的大流行病发展成了真正的大流行病。
What we've seen, we are very clear about that is that countries were not able to put some of those measures in places. And the virus continues to spread. And at that point it had moved from a potential pandemic to an actual pandemic.
此外，他呼吁各国反思自身，采取有力行动应对疫情。
3月11日，世界卫生组织总干事谭德塞在日内瓦举行的例行记者会上称，新冠肺炎已成为“大流行病”。
"WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock and we are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. "We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic." 世界卫生组织总干事谭德塞说：“世卫组织日以继夜地评估这次疫情，疫情惊人的传播速度和严重程度，以及一些国家的不作为都令我们深感担忧。 因此我们评估认为，新冠肺炎疫情从特征上可称为大流行。 ”
