保罗·西涅克
（Paul Signac, 1863-1935）
法国新印象派（Neo-impressionism）点彩派（Pointillism）创始人之一，他主要画风景，且经常使用点彩派技法作画 。1863年11月11日生于巴黎，1935年8月15日卒于同地。早年学建筑，后转而学绘画。1884年与G.修拉交往后，开始接受新印象主义理论，并成为这一运动的骨干人物。作品富于激情，善用红色作为基调，代表作《圣特罗佩港的出航》《马赛港的入口》等色彩鲜明和谐，使远近产生秩序感。晚年思想进步，同情社会主义和俄国十月革命。

他是位狂热的人，醉心于绘画、科学、文学、政治一句话，他热爱他所处的时代。他从来都是最彻底的，既强壮又开朗，与其说象位画家，不如说象个布列塔尼水手。他讲起话来又快又急，既夹带着让人不能重复出来的字眼，又有着可亲的温柔。
他的狂热，好斗精神，智慧，坚定不移，都丝毫不能说明他的特点。而在他甚至最狂热的爆发时，也没有渺小低下之处和无缘无故的恶意。
他的坚定是实实在在的，主意也不是轻而易举的：他可不是那种注定要使生活简单，逐走一切不该进入自己小圈子的事物的人。恰恰相反，他有着每次接触新东西时都变得生动活跃的信念，时刻准备攀上更高的水平。

他的话不管多么生硬，都出自一颗慷慨仁慈的心，是为真理而发。开放精神使他完全同意有各种各样达到真理的办法，承认有时与他根本对立的研究的合法性。但是，在艺术上，一如在生活中，他始终与野心家，伪善者，拍马者，自命不凡者誓不两立。斗争是他生活的一部分，艺术斗争也如社会斗争一样，因为他似乎有更多的精力要提供给渴望行动的坚强气质使用。
